There has been a lot of speculation in the last few months that Davey Boy Smith Jr. could be headed back to WWE.
This past February, he confirmed in an interview that he’s had talks with WWE and the plan would see him work on the NXT UK brand.
It was believed that an indication Smith could sign with WWE was him not working the most recent Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport event. However, he did work the show.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “at this point he has not signed here [WWE] but there are serious discussions in that direction.”
He inducted his father into the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame class, which aired on Peacock last Tuesday.
His first run with the company came from 2006-2011 and then went to work for various promotions such as NJPW and MLW. It appears that it’s just a matter of time before he signs a contract with WWE, but anything is possible in the wrestling business.
