Former WWE Star Is Returning To Pro Wrestling, Plans To Wrestle For The First Time Since 2023

Lacey Evans is officially returning to professional wrestling.

The former WWE Superstar made the announcement in a video posted to her Instagram account on Wednesday, telling fans that her experience meeting them at a recent WrestleCon in Las Vegas relit the fire to compete again.

Lacey Evans Confirms Wrestling Return

Evans, real name Macey Estrella, opened her video by getting straight to the point.

“Hey guys, stop scrolling if you’re new to my page. Hello, I am Macey Estrella, also known as former WWE Superstar Lacey Evans, and I’ve got some really exciting news. If you are a content subscriber, you already know because I’ve already disclosed it, but I’m going to disclose it to you guys now: I will be returning to wrestling. Yes, the Sassy Southern Belle is on her way back.”

The WrestleMania Weekend Signing Brought Her Back

Evans pointed to her recent signing in Las Vegas as the moment that pushed her over the edge.

“As you all know, I just did a signing in Las Vegas during WrestleMania and it really lit that fire. Getting to see my fans, getting to converse with them — I’ve had so many ask me, ‘Are you returning? When are you returning?’ and I couldn’t get it out of my head.”

Her Family’s Role In The Return

Evans explained that her family situation has changed since she stepped away from WWE.

“I have been with my husband since I was 15 years old. When we were 16, we knew without a shadow of a doubt that we wanted babies. We wanted a family. Well, guess what? Three kids later, I got my family and it’s been incredible. But now, my kids are asking. They want to see me razzle-dazzle. I feel great.”

She specifically pointed to her four-year-old daughter as a driving factor.

“My four-year-old was just looking around at this signing. She has seen me on TV and she just wants to see it live. What kind of mama would I be if I didn’t show her?”

She also noted how the timing has come full circle.

“I stepped out of the wrestling business for my children, and technically I’m stepping back in for my kids.”

Evans Acknowledges The Work Ahead

Evans was candid about the physical work required to get back in the ring.

“I’ve got to get back in shape. I’ve got to get in ring-shape back. I wonder where I’ll be going. I have to train, I’ve got to get a personal trainer, I’ve got to make my way back. Because one thing I do know is that even though I did not grow up watching wrestling, even though this came from left field, I trained really hard and got to a point where I could do some pretty incredible stuff. And now, I’m ready to get back. I’m ready to see what I have to offer as a talent, to see what I have to offer as an entertainer.”

Documenting The Journey

Evans said she will be tracking the comeback on a separate Instagram account she has tagged in her post for fans who want to follow along with the process.

“I do have another page so I can make sure that I track this entire journey on my page. It is Instagram. I will tag it so you guys can go follow that page, just follow the journey. See where I’m going, see what I’m doing, see what the next game plan is, see how long it takes me to get this mom bod back in shape.”

She closed by promising full transparency about the comeback.

“I can’t wait to show you my gear, I can’t wait to show you my journey, my process, where I’ll be training, what I’m doing, down to what I’m eating — because Lord knows I’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s a lot when it comes to pro wrestling. It’s not just what you nasties see on the outside, but I’m kind of going to let you guys step on my side for this entire journey because I’m so excited.”

“So, follow my page that I will be tagging below and get ready because the Sassy Southern Belle is on her way back, motherf—-rs!”

Lacey Evans most recently competed for WWE before her release in 2023. She held the title of “First Lady of WWE” during her run and had matches with Becky Lynch, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Asuka. Evans has not yet announced where she plans to wrestle once she returns to action. Follow her on Instagram at @laceyevanswwe.
