Former WWE star returning to the company

WWE is in the hiring process to kick off the new year as Abyss and Sonjay Dutt are headed to the sports entertainment company after departing from Impact Wrestling. Now, it’s been reported that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Shane Helms will be returning to the company as a backstage producer, according to Justin LaBar of Wrestling Inc.

Prior to this move, Helms had been working with Ring of Honor since June 2018. This is a good signing by the company as Helms brings nearly 20 years of experience in the pro wrestling business and is well liked among wrestlers for having a good mind.

He started out his career once signing with WCW in 1999 and became well known for portraying “The Hurricane” character in the WWE when he signed with the company in 2001 by dressing as a superhero.

This signing makes even more sense after Triple H brought up during the pre-NXT TakeOver: Phoenix conference call last week that they were increasing their efforts in hiring talent in backstage roles

“We’re always on the lookout for talented people that can contribute to the product and to the WWE as a whole,” Levesque said. “It doesn’t matter where they’re from, the quality people that are talented, that have a passion for this and want it to go to the next level and succeed, I’m always looking forward to those people.”
