Saurav Gurjar, who wrestled for WWE as Sanga, has been arrested in India and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in a case filed by a woman who alleges he deceived her with promises of marriage.
Gurjar was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport on the night of September 17 as he arrived on a flight from the Middle East, after Hyderabad police issued a Look Out Circular against him. He was taken to Hyderabad on Saturday, September 19, and produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody on Sunday, according to the Hindustan Times.
Gachibowli inspector K. Saidulu confirmed the arrest. “We also issued a Look Out Circular against him. On the night of September 17, he was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport when he arrived from the Middle East. Our team brought him to Hyderabad on Saturday and produced him before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody on Sunday.”
The complainant, a 29-year-old woman, went to Gachibowli police on August 15. According to her complaint, she connected with Gurjar on Instagram in 2021 and the two began talking on WhatsApp. She says he promised to marry her at their first in-person meeting on December 25, 2021, that he persuaded her to quit her job in the United States on the basis that they would start a business together, and that whenever she raised marriage he blocked her number and became unreachable. She says the two lived together in Hyderabad from October 2025 to March 2026, and that he then cut off contact without explanation.
Police registered the case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which covers sexual intercourse by deceitful means, including false promises of marriage. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations have not been tested in court. Gurjar has not commented publicly.
Gurjar, 42, signed with WWE in 2018 and debuted in NXT the following year as Saurav, later renamed Sanga. He teamed with Rinku, later Veer Mahaan, as Indus Sher, a team that held the NXT tag team ranks before a 2022 main roster run on Raw alongside Jinder Mahal. He was released in 2024.
Before wrestling, Gurjar was a kickboxer and an actor. He played Bhima in the 2013 Star Plus series Mahabharat, Ravan and Bali in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman, and the villain Zor in the 2022 film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. He returned to Indian television in February 2025 in Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav.
