Former WWE Star TAKA Michinoku Involved In Car Accident In Japan, Suffered A Concussion But Still Wrestled The Next Day

TAKA Michinoku was involved in a car accident in Japan that left him bloodied and requiring an ambulance, the former WWE Light Heavyweight Champion posted on X.

TAKA said the accident happened after an already chaotic night. He wrote that after his match, he could not find his wallet and was scrambling. When he finally found it, he realized his house keys were missing. After locating those and trying to head home, another car suddenly crashed into him.

“The airbag deployed but I took a hard hit to the face and was bleeding, so an ambulance was called,” TAKA wrote. “My car can no longer drive. What the heck. What am I going to do for transportation starting tomorrow.”

TAKA posted photos showing the collision between two vehicles on a wet city street and the interior of his car with deployed airbags.

In a follow-up post, TAKA revealed that he suffered a concussion from the accident but still wrestled the following day. “Last night, concussion from a traffic accident. If I take a second impact with the same force right away, the mortality rate jumps by 50-70%,” TAKA wrote. “A blow to the head can be fatal. It’s a literal life-or-death battle.”

TAKA Michinoku, 52, is best known in North America as the inaugural WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, winning the title by defeating Brian Christopher at D-Generation X: In Your House in December 1997. He held the title for over 10 months. He was also part of the Kaientai faction alongside Funaki and is the founder of the JTO promotion in Japan. He currently works primarily for New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Best wishes to him for a full recovery.
