A former WWE star has confirmed his current free agent status after parting ways with NJPW. Shane Haste, known as Shane Thorne and Slapjack during his time in WWE, revealed the update through social media.
Haste shared a video referencing TMDK Ronin with a message about his career path. He stated, ‘You must understand that there is not just one single way to reach the top of the mountain.’
He later clarified the intent behind the post, admitting that his initial message might have been unclear. He confirmed he is on the market, joking about the terminology used to describe his current employment situation.
‘I was prolly a little too cryptic with this post but “free agent” sounded too fancy pants for me,’ Haste wrote. ‘Maybe I should have gone with “funemployed”.’
WWE And NJPW Run
Haste was with WWE from 2016 until his release in November 2021. During his main roster run, which began in March 2020, he was repackaged as Slapjack in the Retribution faction. Following the group’s disbandment, he transferred to SmackDown in April 2021 but only competed in dark matches before his release.
After leaving WWE, Haste moved to NJPW, where he found success as a tag team competitor. He became an IWGP Tag Team Champion and a two-time NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champion alongside Mikey Nicholls.
