Not only do WWE, wrestlers, and fans want to see the company return to having shows with people in attendance, but FOX does as well.
The original belief was WWE would resume touring in August with SummerSlam serving as the start of having fans in attendance at all shows going forward. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, WWE has come up with plans to do just this, but it kept getting delayed.
AEW then announced they would be resuming live events outside of Jacksonville starting in July. It’s since been reported WWE will go back to touring starting on Friday, July 16th with an episode of SmackDown then the Money in the Bank that Sunday, and going forward this year.
WrestleVotes reported today that in recent weeks FOX officials have pushed for WWE to resume touring. WWE earns big money from their TV deals with FOX and the USA Network for Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.
Heard from a very reliable source that FOX has privately pushed for a return to live crowds over the past few weeks, actively seeking updates on timeframes, etc. They’d like their billion dollar investment on the same playing field as the MLB, NBA & others.
