FOX reportedly wants current UFC champ for SmackDown Live broadcast team

WWE Smackdown Live Fox

It looks like, upon the UFC exiting FOX in favor of ESPN for broadcasting rights, FOX wants to retain one current UFC champion they have on their broadcast team for the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion. Per a report from Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer, FOX wants to retain UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Meltzer noted that McMahon isn't yelling as much at the guys on SmackDown Live because he doesn't visit the blue brand as much anymore. However, once the deal with FOX kicks in next year, that might change. As for Cormier, FOX reportedly wants "DC" as part of the program's broadcast team because they like his work on "UFC Tonight." They also want SmackDown to have more of a sporty vibe to it rather than a comedy.

Cormier recently revealed that his upcoming fight with Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 postponed a planned WWE commentary tryout. "DC," a longtime WWE fan, is very excited about the possibility, but should he get the gig, plans to also maintain his obligations at the UFC commentary desk as well.
