FOX Sports plans on adding more WWE programming in addition to SmackDown Live

During the FOX presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour, FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier praised WWE programming and said what they do fits with what FOX wants. He also called the people in WWE “great storytellers.”

Collier said that there are plans for more WWE programming across their Fox Sports networks, including FS1. He did not go into details but I know that there have been talks about doing a studio show similar to the UFC studio shows that aired before Fight Night events.

Collier confirmed that SmackDown would be live every week. There’s no word on if the show will air live on the west coast or on delay. Collier also made a reference to SmackDown Live being “short term” on Friday nights which could mean that it would move to a different night at some point.

FOX will be paying WWE $1 billion over the course of 5 years. SmackDown Live will debut on that network in October.
