FOX was not happy about urine segment on WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Don’t expect to see anything that resembles the urine segment that kicked off last week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

For those of you that missed it, there was a segment where Sheamus brought a doctor into the ring and demanded that Jeff Hardy should take a urine test before their match at Backlash. Hardy agreed to provide the urine sample and then he proceeded to toss the urine in Sheamus’ face.

The segment aired on the east coast but fans that watched on the west coast did not see it because they immediately cut into a commercial break before Hardy tossed the urine.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why the segment was cut from the show on the west coast:

“It aired on the east coast but not on the west coast. Fox decreed that it violated their standards and practices so they threw a commercial in so we didn’t get to see it on the west coast. That’s what that was all about.”

As previously noted, WWE did a similar segment in 2006 with Shawn Michaels tossing urine in the face of Vince McMahon. If WWE ever wants to do that type of segment again then it will have to be on Raw because it has been made clear to them that this cannot happen again on FOX.
