The 53-year-old ECW legend explained that she was anxiously awaiting a call back from her doctor regarding the results of a recent mammogram and ultrasound. “I’m freaking out right now. I’m literally, my heart is beating lonely and I’m freaking out. I feel like I’m gonna burst into tears,” Francine admitted to her co-host, Chad. She explained that she had undergone her annual screening this past Friday and received an unexpected phone call from her gynecologist’s office just as the podcast was about to begin.
“I don’t remember ever getting a phone call. I’ve always gotten a letter sent to me that said, ‘hey, everything looks fine,'” she explained. “So today, a number came up on my phone… and it was my gynecologist… She left me this message, and was like, ‘I just need to talk to you, because I have to go over your results.’ I’ve never gotten that before, so it shook me up a little bit.”
The unexpected nature of the call, combined with her inability to immediately get in touch with the doctor, left Francine fearing the worst. “It’s just the anticipation of like, what is going to be said to me? My life could change in a matter of a minute, and I’m scared,” she said. “It could be nothing… but I just can’t… I’m a pessimist.”
She mentioned the recent passing of another woman from breast cancer at the same age, which heightened her anxiety. “So it makes you think, like, oh my god, it could be me,” Francine shared. Throughout the beginning of the show, she struggled to maintain her composure while waiting for the phone to ring, providing listeners with a rare and vulnerable look into a deeply personal moment. The show was recorded with the understanding that if the doctor called back during the taping, Francine would pause to take the call, leaving the outcome as a cliffhanger for her audience.
