Gable Steveson Removed From WWE NXT Roster

Gable Steveson’s future with WWE NXT is up in the air days after he withdrew from this month’s Senior World Championships.

Earlier this summer, the Olympic Gold Medalist beat Baron Corbin in his in-ring debut at the WWE NXT Great American Bash premium live event from the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Austin, Texas.

In addition to his WWE debut, he returned to amateur wrestling earlier this year when he won the US Open this past April and wrestled again at Final X in June.

Steveson is no longer competing at the tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, as heavyweight wrestler Mason Parris will replace Steveson. It’s unclear why Steveson pulled out of the tournament.

Steveson has to get approval from WWE to do these tournaments, and when he pulled out of this one, some thought it indicated that WWE told him he couldn’t do it. It also made fans believe it was an indication of WWE not allowing Steveson to go for his third NCAA title next year or the 2024 Olympics.

While that remains to be seen, in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “another interesting note is that Steveson has been officially removed from the NXT roster. I don’t know what that means past that’s happened and there are no plans for him in NXT at this moment.”
