Gable Steveson says he starts with WWE mid-April, keeps in touch with Triple H and Nick Khan

WWE's Gable Steveson appeared on "The MMA Hour" this week to talk about his WWE career, advice he was given, how he's improving his skills, and when we will see him on television.

Gable Steveson talking about advice he’s been given from Brock Lesnar:

“He was one of the first to hit me up (after winning the NCAA Championship). He said, ‘Great job’, and was congratulating me," Steveson shared.

"He said I gave a really great interview which I was proud to hear. I’m working on my talking skills making sure I can take things off of me and put it on other people for my success. I would hate to go on an ESPN interview and say, ‘I’m the best. I’m the greatest American Heavyweight that’s ever wrestled.’ I would rather have another person tell you that instead of me. I would rather say that there are kids that can be better than me, and anybody else who wants to do what I do, they can do it better too.”

Steveson was asked how he’s been able to improve his interview skills:

“I’ve been watching how people talk," he said. "I like how Roman Reigns talks on Friday Night SmackDown. He’s so productive. He’s strong with his words. He’s a one of a kind spokesperson."

"I look at a lot of interviews online how celebrities talk and how they take things off of them and put them on their people. They congratulate themselves but they make sure that everyone gets the love put on them too.”

Steveson on the advice Paul Heyman has given him:

“Heyman is a wizard. There’s been times where he would tell me certain things to spin to make an attraction bigger than it should be. He’s just so smart. He’s a genius at what he does. If you see what he does with Brock or Roman Reigns, he’s perfect. His character is crazy amazing.”

Steveson was asked if he’s in contact with Heyman:

“All the time. Triple H reached out. Triple H and I have a good connection. He’s a great dude. Nick Khan is a really good dude too. He reached out. They all show a lot of love, and I think that’s really cool,” Gable said.

Steveson said he will be at WrestleMania but would not answer whether he will just be the guy waving in the crowd or be part of the show.

Steveson on when his contract starts and how soon it will be until we see him on RAW:

“My exact start date is in the middle of April. They’re letting me finish school. They’re letting me do my thing."

"Monday Night RAW will come really soon, or shortly after that, but I’m planning on getting on TV and getting in the ring on TV really, really soon after WrestleMania.”

On if he’s skipping NXT and going straight to RAW:

“As of right now, I believe so. I think NXT is a great program. My brother is on NXT, so I love to watch it and tune in, and he’s doing a great job down there too."

"I think the plan for me was to go to Monday Night RAW and start out there and just produce myself and be myself right there.”

On if he would want to be a good guy or a bad guy:

“Good guy that goes to bad guy. Any storyline they give, I’m going to accept it. I’m going to put my best foot forward," he said.

"I love to be on camera. I love to do my thing and bring a variety of who Gable Steveson actually is to the outside world.”
