Gable Steveson’s time with the Buffalo Bills has come to an end.
Steveson signed a multi-year contract with WWE in 2021. WWE planned to feature him on Raw after WrestleMania 38, with Triple H pushing to wrestle Stevenson at the show. However, Triple H’s medical issues nixed that plan.
Steveson also underwent a heart procedure. He has worked a handful of live events in NXT and dark matches at SmackDown events, but his only TV match was a no-contest with Baron Corbin at an NXT PLE last year.
Steveson hasn’t wrestled since the February 9th SmackDown. WWE released the Olympic gold medalist in May alongside several other NXT stars.
Following his WWE exit, Steveson looked at playing pro football and joined the Buffalo Bills’ roster to try out for the regular season. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported today that the NFL team has waived Steveson.
Now, he will be able to sign with any team in the league should they be interested ahead of the start of the regular season in a little over two weeks. The Bills could also sign him to be part of their practice squad.
The #Bills are waiving DL Gable Steveson, source says. Former wrestler is a developmental prospect so this won’t be the end of the line for him, whether in Buffalo as a member of the practice squad or elsewhere. pic.twitter.com/pmX279KKBV
