Gable Steveson: WWE Just Wasn’t The Right Time. I Have No Bad Feelings With It

Former WWE talent and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson is moving along with his career.

Steveson signed a multi-year contract with WWE in 2021. After a highly successful amateur wrestling career, he went to training for his pro wrestling career full-time. Steveson worked a handful of live events in NXT and dark matches at SmackDown events. However, his only TV match was a no-contest with Baron Corbin at an NXT PLE last year.

WWE released him in May alongside several other NXT stars. Following his WWE exit, Steveson looked at playing pro football and joined the Buffalo Bills’ roster to try out for the regular season, but the NFL team has waived Steveson.

Now, he’s returning to Minnesota for his final year as an amateur wrestler. Speaking at his re-introduction press conference, Gable spoke about his WWE tenure.

“The WWE just wasn’t the right time. I had a lot of competitive edge in me, and they knew that, and it was not the time for it. So maybe one day, if the stars are aligned, it’ll be a great opportunity to do it again. I have no bad feelings with it. I have no bad blood with it, and I would like to keep moving forward with everything I have going on, and the NFL situation [was] just definitely a great thing to do.”
