Goldberg is still under contract with WWE despite having no matches left on his existing deal.
Goldberg has only wrestled once this year, which was the Roman Reigns match at Elimination Chamber. In 2021, he worked three matches – a loss to Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble and Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam before beating Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel.
Before that Reigns match, he hinted it could be the last time he wrestlers. However, he has since teased doing matches with Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
While speaking on the Roman Atwood Podcast, Goldberg talked about how Stephanie McMahon told him once to stop headbutting doors. This is where he mentioned his contract expires in two months.
“My relationship with WWE has never been a hundred percent on the up and up because I worked for a company competing against them in the Monday Night Wars, and I had the title right, so I don’t expect them ever to treat me like one of their own. I can’t remember what the point of this story was, but I’ve been hitting the head way too many times, quite obviously, as you can see in real-time……Stephanie [McMahon], if you’re listening to this, my contract ends in two months, so don’t hold this against me.
Stephanie came up to me backstage one night, and she said, ‘I heard you’ve been headbutting the doors.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s how I gotta be me.’ She’s like, ‘I don’t want you to be headbutting any more doors.’ I put my head through a lot of things across the country from 94-97, and I guarantee you half of them are still there.”
