Goldberg And GUNTHER’s Segment On WWE Raw Went Shorter Than Planned

According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the in-ring confrontation between Goldberg and World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER on the June 16 episode of WWE Raw went shorter than originally planned. The segment was used to set up their championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.

Some fans thought Goldberg “wasn’t moving well,” which is likely due to injuries he has sustained while training for his final match and looked smaller than in year’s past. It was also stated that backstage sources noted he looked shorter than the last time he was there.

Furthermore, there were significant omissions from the live promo segment. During the confrontation, Goldberg did not mention that the upcoming bout would be his retirement match, nor was it stated that the match would be for GUNTHER’s World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE only confirmed the title stipulation on its social media channels after Raw went off the air.
