As WWE gets ready to return to the road, the company will start to rely more on names from the past to get the fans back in hopes of increasing their ratings.
Becky Lynch is reportedly going to be backstage this Sunday at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view and John Cena is expected back soon.
On Monday Night Raw, the plan is for Goldberg to make his return. Fightful is reporting that there will be an angle to set up Goldberg vs. Lashley for SummerSlam. Presumably, that will be for the Universal Championship which means that Lashley will retain against Kofi Kingston on Sunday night.
Goldberg wrestled at the Royal Rumble in January, so SummerSlam would be his last contracted match for this year. There is always the possibility that a deal can be worked out to get him to wrestle for more shows.
Goldberg’s return essentially means that there will be no Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam since Lashley has been lobbying for a match with Lesnar. As previously noted, Lesnar is still not under contract but it is widely believed that he will return at some point but it just boils down to what creative has for him and he needs to agree to terms.
