Goldberg Reveals He Suffered An Injury During Retirement Match

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has revealed that he suffered a significant injury during his retirement match against GUNTHER. On his podcast, Goldberg stated that he broke his hand during the World Heavyweight Championship bout on July 12.

Goldberg Broke His Hand During Final Match

Speaking on his CarCast podcast, Goldberg gave an update on how he was feeling physically after the match. He noted that while his other nagging injuries were not aggravated, he did not come out of the contest unscathed.

“You can’t really tell, but my hand, I broke my hand, at some point in that match, and I think today’s the first day I can see veins back in my hand. It’s not nearly as swollen as it was. That and… shoulder didn’t hurt, neck didn’t hurt. My knee isn’t worse.”

A Physical Farewell To The Ring

The match at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special in Atlanta, Georgia, was billed as Goldberg’s final in-ring performance. In other recent interviews, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion has expressed some frustration with the overall presentation of his retirement but has consistently praised his opponent, GUNTHER.

While Goldberg now begins his retirement and recovery from his broken hand, his final opponent, GUNTHER, is preparing for another massive title defense. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to face CM Punk in one of the main events of the two-night SummerSlam premium live event on August 2nd and 3rd.
