WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is deep in preparation for his final match, slated for this year. He has stated he knows the date, though it remains private. Speaking on his CarCast podcast, the 58-year-old detailed the intense challenges of getting ring-ready, including recent injuries.
“I know the date (of my retirement match)… it makes it extremely difficult to get prepared without going overboard… I hurt myself a couple [of] times in the past three months,” Goldberg shared. He admitted, “It is tough.”
Goldberg also spoke about the difficulty of gaining weight appropriately at his age, getting “almost up to 270 and I had to back off because I could not function.” He aims to be in “some seriously awesome shape” but is even considering new ring attire: “I’m terrified to put those… trunks on again. I may even go with different kind of trunks.”
He is also working around long-standing issues: “I’m extremely limited because of my left knee. I can’t run… Hell, I’m working around my shoulder that… I haven’t been able to use for five years.”
Goldberg’s final WWE match is expected to be “in the South,” with the July 12th Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta heavily speculated as the date and location.
