Gunther Becomes The New WWE King Of The Ring

Gunther vs. Randy Orton took place in the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament at the WWE King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event on Saturday from the Jeddah SuperDome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. WWE announced earlier this week that the winner would get a title match of their choosing at SummerSlam this August.

The fans were fired up for this match. It was a slow start where Orton was selling his leg knee. Orton went for an RKO, but Gunther avoided it and Gunther targeted the back. Gunther with a headlock into a back breaker for 2. Orton’s chest was starting to blister due to chops. Orton reversed a suplex with one of his own before Gunther caught him with a clotheslines. Orton with a powerslam only for Gunther to roll to the apron where Orton went for the second rope DDT and hit it. Gunther avoided the RKO and fired back with a suplex. Gunther with a splash off the top rope for 2. Gunther missed a dive and Orton hit an RKO. Gunther rolled to the floor. Orton with a series of back suplexes on the announce table. Back in the ring, Gunther caught him with a drop kick to the bad knee. Orton countered a move with an RKO, but couldn’t go for the pin right away. Gunther with a quick roll up for the win.
