GUNTHER On Brock Lesnar Match: ‘After I Beat Cody, Then Brock Can Challenge Me’

GUNTHER has weighed in on the possibility of facing Brock Lesnar in WWE, telling Italian Wrestling Channel that his current focus is on Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy but that a Lesnar match could happen down the road once the championship picture clears.

GUNTHER and Lesnar have never had a singles match against each other in either WWE or any other promotion. The two were both on the WrestleMania 41 card in 2025, with GUNTHER’s match against Jey Uso airing on Night 2. Reports at the time indicated WWE had explored a potential GUNTHER-Lesnar match for WrestleMania 41 before the Janel Grant amended complaint surfaced in January 2025 and pulled Lesnar from the WWE card. The two have shared the ring only in Royal Rumble matches.

Lesnar made his surprise WWE TV return on the May 18th Raw, attacking Oba Femi after Femi’s open challenge. GUNTHER was asked about the return during his recent Italian Wrestling Channel interview.

“I wasn’t even there on that day at Mania, because it was the day after me, when a lot of it happened with Brock, so I only saw it in a headline, and that’s literally all the info I had. Obviously, he’s back now, but I haven’t thought about it. I’m really focused on what I’m doing with Cody now. I will be challenging for the WWE Undisputed Championship in Italy, and that’s my full focus right now.”

He then opened the door for a potential future match.

“After I beat Cody, then Brock can challenge me, and we’ll do that.”

GUNTHER has been on a sustained World Heavyweight Championship and Undisputed WWE Championship-tier run since his 2022 main roster call-up and the Intercontinental Championship reign of 666 days from 2022 to 2024.

GUNTHER currently challenges Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy on May 30 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin.
