As expected, WWE has abandoned their trademark filing on the name, “Gunther Stark.” WWE applied for it last week with the idea that it would be the new ring name of WALTER.
However, WWE received backlash over it as if you do a simple Google search, it reveals there was a person with the same name who severed as a Nazi Germany military commander during World War II.
The filing was updated on January 19th noting the company had abandoned the registration of the trademark. “Status: Abandoned because the applicant filed an express abandonment.”
This past Tuesday night on NXT, WALTER beat Roderick Strong in the main event and after the match, he said “Gunther.” WWE’s website has updated his profile with him being listed as “Gunther” without the last name.
