During the last week or so, we’ve been getting emails from readers asking if the rumors about “The American Basass” version of The Undertaker would be returning at WrestleMania. I’ve been able to do some digging and there seems to be some smoke to these rumors.
We were told that WWE is keeping The Undertaker’s plans a secret and that includes his WrestleMania entrance. The key people in WWE that were kept in the loop during previous years have no idea what they have planned this year for his entrance. Furthermore, we are told that there have been changes made to his gear and some of the “shoot-like” things said by John Cena in recent weeks were approved by Taker himself. We were told that Taker told people last year that he wanted to retire the classic “Deadman” character. That would probably explain why he removed trademark his hat, gloves, and trenchcoat at last year’s show and that would explain why he didn’t wear those items at the Raw 25th anniversary show.
Lastly, we heard last year that Taker was telling friends that he would like to do the “American Badass” version of his character one more time because he enjoyed that run in the early 2000’s. In fact, the “American Badass” version of his character was his idea.
If the “American Badass” character is returning (and all signs point to that being the case) then this would be the time to do it, especially since Kid Rock will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame and he will also be at WrestleMania 34.
For those of you that have asked about his health, friends of Taker say that he looks and feels better than he has in many years. At last year’s show, he was in tremendous pain but the belief is that he got hip surgery and he’s moving around much better nowadays. There’s no word on if Taker will actually appear on Raw this Monday or if they want to save his return for the pay-per-view but one would think that WWE would make the match “official” by Monday night.
