WWE NXT Superstar Rick Boogs (Eric Bugenhagen) was called up to the main roster and placed on Friday Night SmackDown a few weeks ago.
Shortly after his main roster debut, it was reported that more NXT talent call-ups were being planned for Raw and SmackDown. WWE recently held a talent tryout and it was reported by Dave Meltzer that “when it comes to trying out talent, the directive from above has changed, wanting younger and bigger guys again.”
Ringside News reports Vince McMahon is “not looking for wrestlers,” but rather looking for a different type of quality in a talent as he wants personalities. It was said he will ask who they have and “if the character is very real, or if the character is outlandish, doesn’t matter.”
It was added that the WWE Chairman always asks what is the character of the NXT wrestler. There’s still no word yet on who will be called up or who will be part of the call-ups. It should be noted that WWE is planning to hold this year’s Draft in a few months, but there’s been no confirmation as to whether NXT talent will be part of it.
