Pat McAfee’s promised “massive surprise” on the April 10 episode of SmackDown turned out to be a 25 percent discount on WrestleMania Saturday tickets, with night one headlined by Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton, with McAfee set to be in Orton’s corner.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the discount moved 1,265 tickets for WrestleMania Saturday since Friday morning, bringing the total sold for night one to 40,610. However, WrestleMania Sunday actually outperformed night one without any equivalent promotion, moving 1,452 tickets in the same period to bring night two’s total to 42,769. That came despite McAfee actively telling fans not to attend that night during his SmackDown appearance.
Additional discount options remain active for both nights. Promo codes including ‘CAESARS’ and ‘REBELS’ are currently reducing one-day tickets for WrestleMania 42 to $153.95, with two-day tickets available at $307.85 using the same codes.
The ticket situation continues to be one of the more closely watched storylines heading into the event. Sales remain down 19 percent compared to WrestleMania 41 as of Friday, April 10. The price of WWE tickets has drawn heavy criticism for months, with the company’s own top stars publicly pushing for reductions. Since the WWE-UFC merger in September 2023, ticket prices have doubled. CM Punk directly addressed the issue in his pipe bomb promo on Raw earlier this week, calling on WWE to lower prices.
WrestleMania 42 takes place Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, marking the second consecutive year the event is held at the venue.
