Sasha Banks talked Roman Reigns during her interview on “Conversations with Maria Menounos.” Banks confirmed that the roster did now know anything about Reigns’ leukemia diagnosis until he announced it to the world on Monday Night Raw.
“I didn’t know,” Banks said. “I don’t want to cry because he’s very special. I’m still shaken by that news.”
Banks said everyone backstage found out during his speech on Monday Night Raw.
Banks said, “He is the strongest, most amazing man I’ve ever met. He taught me so much since I’ve been on Raw.” She added, “To know that he’s been battling with this and didn’t tell a soul…he’s a leader. Everyone looks up to him. There’s no bad word that anyone can say about him because he is the hardest working person that I ever met.”
It was clear on Monday that the announcers were also not told anything beforehand. If you go back and watch the opening segment from Monday, you will notice that Michael Cole, Renee Young, and Corey Graves were carrying on with storyline business as usual when Reigns was walking down to the ring. Top WWE management likely knew on Friday because that is when he pulled out of the weekend live events and the decision to turn Braun Strowman was made by Sunday because he was a full-blown babyface at Sunday’s live event in Boston.
