Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant from WrestleMania III has been announced as the recipient of the WWE Immortal Moment Award at the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony, becoming only the second match in history to be inducted following Steve Austin versus Bret Hart from WrestleMania 13.
The WrestleMania III main event, which took place at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan in 1987, saw Hogan defeat Andre to retain the WWF Championship in front of a massive crowd. The moment where Hogan bodyslammed Andre, long considered one of the most iconic images in wrestling history, has been replayed by WWE countless times across decades of programming.
The Immortal Moment Award was established in 2025 specifically to recognize the most historically significant matches in WWE history. Austin vs. Hart at WrestleMania 13 was the inaugural recipient of the honor at last year’s ceremony.
The induction also gives WWE the opportunity to posthumously honor Hogan following his passing in July 2025. Hogan had previously been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, first as a solo inductee in 2005 and again as a member of the nWo in 2020 alongside Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman. Andre the Giant was recognized as the first-ever inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame following his passing in 1993.
The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Friday, April 17 at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
