Jaxson Ryker made an appearance on the Faith Life Fitness podcast and during it, he did a rapid-fire Q&A session.
The first question was asked about his favorite wrestler. This is where he named WWE Hall of Fame Hulk Hogan.
“Hulk Hogan was the one who I was blown away by him at five years old, just captivated by him. Yes, definitely Hulk Hogan. I got a chance to work with Hogan in 2010, 2012 in the ring. I saw him at WrestleMania, whatever three weeks ago, went up and shook his hand. He instantly remembered me, as a child in me, it was so cool. He’s like, ‘It’s good to see you, brother.’ Hogan was the man.”
The reason this is an interesting answer is due to the similarities in their backgrounds. Hogan found himself in controversy due to the racial slurs that he made during a sex tape that was leaked several years ago. He went on hiatus from WWE for a few years before being brought back in January 2019.
Ryker received a lot of heat from fans and those in WWE for his comments about Black Lives Matter last year. There was a case where Ryker was criticized by Kevin Owens for praising Donald Trump in a tweet during a time of protests and riots following the murder of George Floyd.
Fans then discovered a post he shared on Facebook in 2019 where he referred to Black Lives Matter as “garbage” In 2017, he posted a picture of himself wearing bronzer on his skin while referring himself to “soul man,” which was a reference to a controversial movie that features a man dressed as blackface.
