Injured WWE Star Will Be At John Cena’s Retirement Match

Seth Rollins has indicated that he will be present for one of the most significant nights in recent WWE history. The former World Heavyweight Champion, currently sidelined with an injury, revealed during a recent interview that his travel itinerary includes a stop in Washington, D.C. for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. The special event at the Capital One Arena is billed as hosting John Cena’s final match before retirement.

Rollins shared his schedule while discussing his beloved Chicago Bears on The Rich Eisen Show. When asked about his plans to attend the Bears’ upcoming home game against the Cleveland Browns, Rollins casually mentioned that his route to Chicago would originate from the site of the WWE special. “We’re going to stop through Chicago for the Cleveland game, just because we have a nice little route back from (Washington) DC after John Cena’s last match,” Rollins said.

The Chicago Bears are scheduled to host the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field on Sunday, December 14, the day immediately following Saturday Night’s Main Event. While Rollins’ comment confirms he intends to be in the building to witness Cena’s farewell, it does not necessarily confirm an on-screen return. The “Visionary” has been out of action since suffering a shoulder injury.

The main event of the December 13 special will see John Cena face the winner of the “Last Time Is Now” tournament. The field has narrowed down to two finalists: Gunther and LA Knight. The two stars are set to collide on SmackDown this Friday, December 5, to determine who earns the honor of wrestling Cena in his retirement match.

The event will also showcase the company’s future, featuring exhibition matches pitting main roster superstars against top prospects from NXT. This format opens the door for numerous potential matchups, including the possibility of Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch, being added to the card.
