Apollo Crews has officially returned to in-ring competition after being sidelined for ten months. The WWE star appeared during an untelevised segment of the AAA tapings on Saturday in Mexico City. Crews answered an open challenge issued by Lince Dorado and secured the victory, marking his first win since suffering a significant injury earlier this year.
Crews had been out of action due to a torn pectoral muscle sustained during a match against Johnny Gargano on the January 24 episode of SmackDown. The injury occurred when Crews took a backcracker. Despite favoring his shoulder for the remainder of that contest, he managed to finish the match and win via a roll-up.
Following the injury, Crews addressed the situation publicly. Crews wrote: “A few weeks ago on SmackDown, I tore my pec—an unfortunate situation. Sometimes, you do everything right, but there are just some things beyond your control. I’m looking forward to the road ahead, attacking it with a positive and unstoppable mindset.”
Prior to the injury, Crews had been drafted to SmackDown during the 2024 WWE Draft but had primarily been working on Main Event tapings. He also had a brief tag team run with Baron Corbin before Corbin’s release from the company in November of last year.
