The Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, now scheduled for Saturday Night’s Main Event, was reportedly moved up from its original spot at Survivor Series. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this change was necessitated by an injury to Jacob Fatu.
Fatu was the original opponent planned for McIntyre at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event show. “Rhodes vs. McIntyre, originally scheduled for Survivor Series, was moved up here because Jacob Fatu, who was originally to face McIntyre on this show, is out of action,” the report stated.
This decision also highlights a potential lack of depth on the roster, as WWE opted to accelerate the planned Survivor Series main event rather than find a replacement opponent for McIntyre to build towards the November event. “That also speaks of the depth issue, as when Fatu went down, instead of plugging another babyface in a feud with McIntyre to set up Survivor Series, they went right to Rhodes vs. McIntyre,” Meltzer wrote as his opinion.
Saturday Night’s Main Event is scheduled for November 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The card currently features Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and CM Punk facing Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. As previously reported, Fatu is not expected to be sidelined as long as originally believed.
With the Rhodes vs. McIntyre match moved, the main event for Survivor Series is still expected to feature a Men’s WarGames match despite Seth Rollins going down with an injury. Meltzer wrote, “Since many have asked, as of press time, the men’s WarGames match was still a Punk & Reigns team against The Vision-led team. Some thought with all the injuries that it would be changed to the Wyatts vs. MFTs since they are clearly doing a multi-person program there as well.”
Survivor Series: WarGames is set for November 29, 2025, in San Diego, California.
