Injury of WWE star was much worse than originally expected

The latest on the injury that has put Jinder Mahal on the sidelines once again has surfaced online.

As noted, the former WWE Champion announced via a post on his Instagram account that he underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center to fix issues with his knee.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “Originally it was scheduled to be minor surgery but the damage ended up being more significant than expected.”

Meltzer brought up the report that noted how WWE was forced to scrap a planned feud between Mahal and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. This match has been talked about quite a bit by both guys over the last few weeks.

Meltzer added that there was talk doing one match since they have the storyline of being former partners, but it was not a long-term program.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on how long he will be out of action.

Mahal had just returned to in-ring action back on the April 27th episode of Raw after being out of action for the majority of 2019 and early 2020 due to knee surgery.
