WWE has been in the mindset of signing any talented pro wrestler or athlete to a contract for many years now.
As a result, that has led to them having a full pool of talent. Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WrestleNomics.com noted WWE had 90 wrestlers on the main roster and 59 in training back in 2014.
This year, WWE has 129 wrestlers listed on the main roster and 136 in training. Thus, it marks the first time that WWE has more wrestlers on their roster than WCW ever did.
Back in the Attitude Era, many people thought that WCW had too many wrestlers under contract and many weren’t used.
Today, WWE can use them across various brands such as Raw, SmackDown Live, 205 Live, NXT, and NXT UK.
With the launch of AEW as well as the growing competition from NJPW among other promotions, there are no signs of WWE cutting back on talent.
