Damon Kemp, the brother of Gable Steveson, announced his departure from WWE on Monday. This was after Gable was released by the company earlier this year, as it was reported that he “wasn’t cutting it” as a pro wrestler.
“As of today, I am no longer under contract with WWE. Forever grateful for the people I met and the experiences I’ve had. For business inquiries – damonkempmgmt@gmail.com,” Kemp tweeted to announce the news.
Kemp, the real name Bobby Steveson, will be taking bookings from August 12 after signing with WWE in August 2021 and progressing well following his NXT debut later that year, where he was initially a part of Diamond Mine. He turned his back on the faction as a heel the following year and later was paired with the No Quarter Catch Crew.
Kemp’s final WWE match occurred on June 25, when he suffered a loss to Tavion Heights in a singles match. Fightful had reported Kemp’s departure was not part of a round of WWE cuts. Instead, his deal wasn’t renewed. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Kemp’s release was a surprise to people within WWE.
Meltzer said, “I’ve asked around with people that know him, and I’ve heard basically contradictory stories, but what I will say is that the people who are around are all surprised.”
