The Mae Young Classic is set to tape in August and, similar to last year’s tournament, you can expect some of the best wrestlers from all over the world to be involved.
Tokyo Sports is reporting that Meiko Satomura will be in the tournament.
The 38-year-old is a co-founder of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. Her wrestling career started in the mid 90’s in the Gaea Japan female promotion. In 1996, WCW formed a working relationship with Gaea and that led to Satomura working in an eight-woman tournament to crown the inaugural WCW Women’s Champion.
Satomura has also worked for Chikara and has been running her promotion since 2006.
There’s no word on whether her involvement with the Mae Young Classic is a one-shot deal or if WWE has long-term plans for her.
