Io Shirai will be at the Performance Center within the next few weeks and she confirmed in a blog that she has signed with the company.
As we noted on Sunday, Shirai has been on WWE’s radar since 2016 and was offered a deal last year. The deal was pulled after a heart issue was discovered during the standard medical testing. She is one of the best female wrestlers in the world and one of the top stars in Japan.
It’s unclear yet when she will make her WWE debut but I am betting on her being in the upcoming Mae Young Classic tournament that begins taping in the fall. Shirai noted in her blog post that she would be leaving Stardom on good terms so she could make a big leap with her pro wrestling future.
Her blog post is a clear reference to WWE but she is not allowed to go into detail because WWE likes to keep signings quiet so they can announce it.
