Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger from his days in the WWE, is going back to his roots of active competition as he takes on a new chapter of his life in the way of being a pro-MMA fighter.
Hager, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, ECW Champion, and United States Champion who’s stint with the company lasted from 2006 to 2017, has signed a contract with Bellator MMA. This is a promotion spearheaded by President Scott Coker and owned by its parent company Viacom.
He’s slated to take on J.W. Kiser at the upcoming Bellator 214 event that goes down on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The main card will air on Paramount Network at 9:00 PM EST.
Hager recently spoke with TampaBay.com about his new venture in MMA. During the interview, he spoke about how he plans to use his exposure that he gained as a star on WWE television to his new career.
“One of the best pieces of advice I ever got in professional wrestling was use the exposure from cable’s number one rated television show to transition and move on to what you want to go into next.”
