Jacob Fatu On JC Mateo: “At The End Of The Day, He Deserves To Be In WWE. He Deserves To Be There, Especially All The Stuff That He’s Been Through”

Jacob Fatu recently appeared on the Battleground podcast, where he opened up on a variety of topics, offering insights into his perspective on JC Mateo’s place in WWE, the evolving nature of The Bloodline, his emotional United States Championship victory, and a look back at one of the “wildest” Samoans in wrestling history.

Speaking on the presence of JC Mateo in WWE and the broader Bloodline saga, Fatu acknowledged the deserving nature of Mateo’s position. “The Bloodline has always been The Bloodline. We’re talking about coming from the OG, from top dog Roman, Usos, Solo,” Fatu stated. “It’s just like what I said at the press conference. I can’t really even speak on it because at the end of the day, okay, yeah, we can say this and that, but you know what? It ain’t no jealousy. It ain’t nothing else behind that. At the end of the day, he deserves to be in WWE. He deserves to be there, especially all the stuff that he’s been through.” He added a note about the current fluidity within the group, “At the end of the day, I really can’t call it. Solo is in and out, I’m in and out and we just all gotta bounce back on the same page.”

Reflecting on his significant United States Championship win, Fatu shared a personal moment and his gratitude for the journey. “I went back to the hotel room later that night, just me and my son. My son was there with me. I ain’t even been there for a year,” he recalled. He emphasized his consistent approach: “It’s just like what I said once again, going back to the Backlash press conference, you know, I’ve just been doing me. That’s it. I’m just doing Jacob what Jacob has been doing for the past 12 years since I’ve been grinding at KnokX Pro.” He also humorously noted the newfound attention, “It is a lot. All of a sudden, you know, everybody’s your cousin now since you get on TV now, I mean, especially knowing the Samoans, you know, everybody is related to somebody.”

Fatu expressed surprise and profound gratitude for his current success. “I wasn’t expecting to be here, but man, God just works in mysterious ways. I’m very happy. I’m very proud, but it took a lot of people to get me here,” he emphasized. He was quick to share credit, stating, “I’m not gonna say, ‘Oh, Jacob. I did it by myself.’ When they say that it takes a village to raise somebody, man, let me tell you, bro. I’ve been getting help my whole life. There’s a lot of people from behind the scenes that really sacrificed a lot just for me to be here. It’s definitely sinking in, man, and I’m very excited and happy.”

When asked about which Samoan wrestler in history was the wildest off-camera, Fatu pointed to a legendary figure. “I’m probably gonna have to say Uncle Sika back in the day. You talk about wild Samoan. I mean, yeah, they look big and they were scary, but you know, you gotta remember, those are OG Samoan cats,” he said. “Uncle Sika knew how to speak. I would say not the craziest, but somewhat of the craziest, but overall, man, just very humble, my uncle. With what I saw, it’s just a little different. You know, we all got our own little ways though sometimes.”
