Jade Cargill Responds To Criticism Over Lack Of WWE Women’s Title Defenses

Jade Cargill is the reigning WWE Women’s Champion, and she has made it clear that she is unbothered by public opinion regarding her title reign. The champion became a hot topic on social media over the weekend after her new rival, Jordynne Grace, highlighted a glaring statistic: Cargill has not defended her championship since winning it from Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event back in November.

In response to Grace pointing out the 77-day drought, Cargill took to X (formerly Twitter) to dismiss the criticism in character. She claimed that the lack of defenses was due to a lack of worthy opponents. “Y’all want me to defend MY Title against a NOBODY. If I’m going to defend MY title- It’s going to be against somebody who is competition!” She further antagonized her detractors, adding, “My first Title defense will not be against some walk up nobody. 💅🏾 and y’all can CONTINUE to be angry about it. You might as well cry. 🤣 IDGAF”

While Cargill’s comments were made in character, they reflect a genuine issue plaguing the SmackDown Women’s Division. Since her victory over two months ago, Cargill has only wrestled two televised matches—squash victories over B-Fab and Alba Fyre.

Reports indicate that Tiffany Stratton took time away due to an undisclosed injury following her title loss. Additionally, Bianca Belair has been sidelined since breaking her knuckle at WrestleMania 41, and a planned rivalry with Michin was scrapped after she suffered an injury during the holiday tour. With other top names like Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax occupied in the tag team division, the title picture has remained stagnant.
