Jade Cargill-Rhea Ripley Situation Is Not A Work, Cargill Reportedly Has Rubbed WWE Talent The Wrong Way

The ongoing social media dispute between WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and challenger Rhea Ripley is reportedly a legitimate, real-life conflict. According to a new report from PWInsider, the recent public interactions between the two performers were not part of a scripted storyline devised by the WWE creative team.

The report from PWInsider details the backstage reaction to the escalating tension. A number of sources within the company have placed the blame for the public blow-up directly on Cargill.

One source informed PWInsider that Cargill has faced criticism from multiple talents regarding how she interacts with others in the locker room. The source noted that Cargill has a history of rubbing others the wrong way. Consequently, when the public back-and-forth with Ripley commenced on social media, it was not difficult for other performers to want to jump in and voice their own opinions on the matter. Furthermore, this source cited that this is not the first instance where Cargill has upset colleagues with her conduct. The source intimated that when reports surfaced last year regarding Cargill dealing with an injury, the actual reason she was removed from television and sent to the WWE Performance Center was to allow personal issues going on at the time to subside.

Another source initially attempted to downplay the severity of the situation to PWInsider but subsequently admitted that they expect WWE management to intervene. This source indicated that management will likely step in to speak with Cargill regarding her professional relationship with the rest of the locker room. The source emphasized that everyone in the locker room has been happy to do whatever is necessary to help get Cargill over with the audience. However, the source stated that the respect the locker room shows Cargill does not often feel requited. This individual described Cargill as coming off “insecure,” noting that she should not have any reason to feel that way given her current position within the company.

Conversely, a source described as being close to Cargill dismissed the severity of the situation. This source blew off the entire ordeal, attributing the tension to Cargill possessing a “Type A personality.” The source stated that this type of conflict is simply what happens when highly competitive personalities occupy the same space.

This report follows a series of public exchanges between Ripley and Cargill as they prepare to compete for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42. The tension began on March 1 when Ripley shared older interview clips of Cargill praising her. Cargill responded by dismissing the praise, stating she was “just talking,” and subsequently accused Ripley of spending hours talking to the WWE creative team to secure her position.

Ripley escalated the situation by posting a direct response on her Instagram Stories, confirming the animosity was genuine. Ripley explicitly stated that the two are not friends and told Cargill to “learn to work and never lie to defame someone’s real human character by ‘breaking the 4th wall’.”

Ripley recently earned her championship opportunity by winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. Cargill has maintained a dominant presence and held the WWE Women’s Championship on the SmackDown brand since capturing it at the SummerSlam event. They are scheduled to finalize their preparations for their match this Friday on SmackDown, where Ripley has announced her intention to confront Cargill face-to-face.
