Another hot prospect has signed with WWE.
So Cal Uncensored and Last Word on Pro Wrestling are reporting that Jake Atlas (real name Kenny Marquez) has signed a WWE developmental deal and he will report to the Performance Center in Orlando in January. Atlas has not commented on the story and will likely not say anything because WWE tells wrestlers to stay quiet until they announce a signing.
News about Atlas’ signing with WWE began to circulate after he told independent promoters that he would not be taking bookings after December
A native of El Monte, CA, Atlas has been wrestling since 2016 after training at the Santino Bros. Wrestling Academy in Bella Gardens, CA. Atlas made headlines in 2017 when he came out as gay and later received a brand ambassador contract from WWE after he appeared on a WWE-themed episode of Undercover Boss on CBS.
Atlas generated more buzz on the independent scene this year, notably with PWG at last month’s Battle of Los Angeles.
Atlas has drawn attention from several promotions including Ring Of Honor and All Elite Wrestling. He reportedly turned down an offer from ROH and had been in contact with AEW but there was no formal offer made to him.
He was backstage in Los Angeles for the first SmackDown on FOX and the talk within the WWE locker room was that it was only a matter of time before he was offered a contract.
