Jake “The Snake” Roberts says he is not under contract with WWE, and that his work with the company is signing autographs.

The WWE Hall of Famer posted a video on X on Tuesday to clear up his comments from a recent interview and to give an update on his health. He also revealed that he is on oxygen and quit smoking five weeks ago.

“I talked about going back to work for the WWE. Yeah, in some capacity. That capacity is real simple: signing autographs,” Roberts said. “Yeah, I went to SummerSlam and signed some autographs, and I do some [Topps] cards here and there, and I enjoy doing it. Just like coming out and seeing you guys, signing autographs for you, taking pictures. That’s all there is. I’m not under contract by no way, no means.”

Roberts said on Nick Club Wrestling Happy Hour on Saturday that he had “re-signed with WWE” and was “doing some stuff for them.” He signed autographs at WWE’s SummerSlam Takeover at the Minneapolis Convention Center during SummerSlam weekend, his first official WWE appearance in several years. He confirmed in July that he was no longer with AEW.

Jake Roberts says he is on oxygen

Roberts said the second thing he wanted to address was “much more serious.”

“Yes, I’m on oxygen. Why? Because I was a fool, and because of genetics. Genetically, I was given an emphysema and COPD, and like a fool, with bad habits that I picked up along my way, smoking. Yeah, I smoked for 50 friggin’ years, man. But I quit,” Roberts said. “I quit five weeks ago, and I’m sticking with it.”

He said quitting is required for a procedure that could get him off oxygen.

“No brainer, right? Yeah, because there’s a procedure they can do, but you got to be clean for six months before they’ll do it. They will help me get off of oxygen, so thumbs up. We’re all good here,” he said. “Going to be around for a long time, so get used to it. Have to put me on a different kind of list. I guess a survivor list.”

Roberts, 71, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

We wish Jake Roberts the best with his health.
