AEW manager and WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts has revealed why he missed his scheduled appearance at the Starrcast convention during the recent AEW All In weekend in Texas. According to Roberts, a canceled flight prevented him from making the trip.
Flight Canceled After Eight-Hour Delay
Speaking on his Snake Pit podcast, Roberts explained the frustrating travel situation that led to his absence. He was scheduled to fly out of Atlanta but was met with a massive delay that ultimately ended in a cancellation.
“I sat at the Atlanta airport for eight hours waiting for a flight that never happened,” Roberts said. “I was there ’til 1:00 AM in the morning before they canceled it. It was supposed to leave at 4:30 [PM]. They screwed me. I was able to keep it under control, surprisingly.”
Nationwide Storms To Blame
Roberts clarified that the travel issues were due to weather problems affecting flights across the country. He noted that storms in one area can have a significant ripple effect on the entire air travel system.
“Just the weather. These storms that are coming through, no matter where they hit, it affects the whole country,” he explained. “If they have storms in Chicago, that still affects Atlanta… So planes don’t get out. They don’t make their connections. That throws everything up in the air.”
While fans in Texas were unable to meet the WWE Hall of Famer at Starrcast due to the travel issues, he continues to make sporadic appearances on AEW programming.
