Jake “The Snake” Roberts Undergoes Heart Procedure

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts was scheduled to undergo heart ablation surgery this morning, May 13, 2025. The news was shared by his wife, Cheryl Roberts, via social media, who called for support from the wrestling community.

In a post on Instagram, Cheryl wrote: “Jake’s going in for heart ablation surgery this morning. Calling all prayers warriors 🙏🏻 good vibes, and well wishes are welcomed & appreciated. @jakethesnakeddt” Heart ablation is a procedure typically used to correct heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias).

Roberts, 69, is a revered figure in professional wrestling, celebrated for his chillingly intelligent promos, masterful ring psychology, and the invention of the iconic DDT finishing maneuver. Rising to prominence in WWE (then WWF) during the 1980s and early 1990s, “The Snake” captivated audiences with his dark persona, often accompanied to the ring by his python, Damien. His memorable feuds with legends like Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, and The Undertaker solidified his legendary status and influenced a generation of performers. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Roberts has publicly battled significant health issues for many years, including well-documented struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, from which he has made a remarkable recovery, often crediting Diamond Dallas Page and DDP Yoga. He has also faced cancer scares and other ailments requiring various treatments. In more recent years, Roberts has remained involved in wrestling, notably appearing in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a manager, most prominently for Lance Archer, where his sharp wit and presence continued to entertain fans.

We send our wishes to Jake “The Snake” Roberts for a successful surgery and a swift and full recovery.
