Back in 2014, James Ellsworth earned his way into a WWE contract when he was expected to be nothing more than a jobber for Braun Strowman to squash. He really impressed in his performance, and two years later, WWE signed him to a deal and he made his debut on SmackDown Live, teaming with AJ Styles. Eventually, Ellsworth aligned himself with Carmella and helped her win a SmackDown Live Women’s Title by assisting her in becoming the first-ever Ms. Money In The Bank.
Ellsworth remained at Carmella’s side for several months before eventually being released by the company. He was brought back for a brief run, again siding with Carmella, but was again written off WWE TV during a July episode of SmackDown Live. Ellsworth spoke to “The Taz Show” recently about getting to work with Carmella, and had nothing but good things to say about the 30-year-old star:
“Oh yeah, absolutely. We became friends because of that angle and we always had a good time working together. I always tell people she’s very smart, very intelligent girl. I’ve always had a good time with her, never any problems whatsoever.
“Just the small things, she recently dyed her hair. She had a long run as SmackDown Live Women’s Champion for a few months and now that’s over with and right away she did something different and dyed her hair just to get eyes on her. That was very smart.”
