Speaking on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, James Storm revealed the surprising origin of his legendary TNA tag team with Bobby Roode, Beer Money, stating the team was created because the company had no other plans for them.
“We were coming to the end of our contracts, and I don’t think they really knew what to do with us,” Storm explained. “So Dutch [Mantell], he was just like, ‘Just put them together. If anything, we fire them together.’ That’s how Dutch was looking at it.”
Once paired, Storm and Roode decided to make the most of it.
“Me and Bob was like, ‘You know what? We’re gonna make the best of this,'” he said. Storm also shared the origin of the “Beer! Money!” chant. “I said, ‘We got to come up with something so stupid that people will boo us every time we do it.’ So that’s why we came up with the Beer Money suplex.”
