New court filings in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE and Vince McMahon contain allegations about who within WWE’s leadership structure knew about McMahon’s relationship with Grant and what actions were taken as a result.
Grant filed a memorandum on Wednesday opposing motions by WWE and McMahon to compel arbitration and move the case out of court. Her lawyers argue that the NDA she signed was unenforceable and should not prevent her from pursuing the case publicly rather than through private arbitration. The April 1 declaration filed by Grant contains detailed allegations about conversations she says McMahon had with her regarding who at WWE was aware of their relationship.
In paragraph 41 of her declaration, Grant states that McMahon told her he had personally informed WWE president Nick Khan and former company COO Brad Blum of the sexual nature of their relationship in March 2021.
“Vince then informed me that he had spoken privately with Nick Khan and Brad Blum during which he formally disclosed the sexual nature of his relationship with me,” Grant’s filing states. “He said they expressed concern and one questioned whether I could be trusted. Vince told me he provided them with assurances about my loyalty, character, that I would never do something to hurt WWE, and that I would sooner jump off the balcony than hurt anyone. He told me that, with these assurances, Nick and Brad were ultimately supportive.”
Grant’s filing also contains allegations regarding the departure of former WWE General Counsel Brian Nurse. In paragraph 43, Grant states that McMahon revealed WWE leadership had determined she was a corporate liability and needed her to leave the legal department.
“He revealed that the former General Counsel, Brian Nurse, had highly suspected or knew about Vince’s sexual relationship with me, and he brought it to the attention of Vince’s office during a meeting with Brad,” Grant’s filing states. “As a result, Vince then flicked his wrist and stated it was handled. I understood this to mean that the General Counsel had identified Vince’s conduct with me as a liability to the Executive Office and was subsequently terminated.”
Nurse was hired as WWE’s General Counsel in 2018 and was listed as WWE Corporate Officer No. 4 in Grant’s original lawsuit filed in January 2024. He departed the company in November 2020. Brad Blum resigned from WWE in May 2024. Neither Khan nor Blum have publicly commented on the allegations contained in Grant’s filings.
