Jasper Troy is out of WWE, and PWInsider reports that releases from NXT are ongoing.
Troy posted “30 Days” with a black heart on X on Friday and pinned it to the top of his profile. He did not explain it, but the length matches the non-compete NXT talent serve after a release. Main roster talent serve 90 days.
PWInsider reported that cuts are being made across NXT and that no main roster wrestlers are expected to be included in this round. It has since confirmed Troy’s release, and he is the only name confirmed so far. WWE has not announced it, and Troy has not said outright that he is gone.
The post was not the first sign. Three days earlier, after the September 1 episode of NXT aired without him on it, Troy wrote about giving everything he has to wrestling without expecting anything back, and said he would get what he believes he deserves.
Troy, 28, signed with WWE in August 2022 after playing football at the University of Kansas and the University of Northern Iowa. He debuted in the ring at an NXT live event in May 2023 and on television the following year. At six foot five and 340 pounds, he was the heaviest wrestler to hold either Speed Championship.
His run picked up in 2025, when he won the first season of WWE LFG on A&E under Booker T’s mentorship, beating Shiloh Hill in the final. He returned to NXT that May by attacking then NXT Champion Oba Femi, and challenged Femi for the title in June.
The Speed Championship followed in the autumn. Troy beat Axiom on October 28 on NXT to become number one contender and took the title from El Grande Americano two weeks later on November 11. He held it 105 days, retaining against Tavion Heights in January before losing it to Elio LeFleur on February 24 in a triple threat with a seven-minute time limit that also involved Eli Knight.
He turned babyface the following month, attacking Keanu Carver on March 17 when Carver interrupted a Booker T Appreciation Night segment, which put him back alongside the man who had mentored him through LFG.
The championship itself is gone now. WWE created the Speed titles in 2024 around its partnership with X, and the concept never settled once the matches moved to NXT. The women’s version was retired at Heatwave on August 30, unified into the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Troy’s last NXT television match was on June 9, a loss to Dion Lennox, leaving him roughly three months off the show before the release. He continued working untelevised dates in that period, and accounts of which was his final match vary. F4WOnline has it as an NXT house show in Gainesville, Florida on August 22, where he teamed with Elijah Holyfield to beat Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov. Other reporting points to a Main Event taping on August 17.
He was not a name most people had down as a candidate for this round. Troy was 28, had come out of a network television competition WWE built and promoted itself, had held a championship inside the last year, and was widely expected to be moved up rather than cut.
The three months off television is the part that reads differently now. Troy went from a title reign and a televised programme with the NXT Champion to no matches on the show at all, and the two posts came in that window rather than after any on-screen writing out. NXT has not addressed his absence on television.
