In a typically bizarre anecdote shared on the “Something To Wrestle With” podcast, John “Bradshaw” Layfield confessed to purchasing a three-foot-tall leprechaun doll to use as target practice ahead of a meeting with former WWE rival Hornswoggle (Dylan Postl). “I’ve ordered a trash can, and I got this leprechaun, and I’m just gonna hold, put it on the yard and just beat the shit out of it… with trash cans,” JBL announced matter-of-factly.
He explained this unusual training method was inspired by past encounters. “I’m going up to Wisconsin in a couple weeks to see Hornswoggle, and so I thought I would train in the meantime,” JBL said. His search for the perfect practice dummy led him online: “I couldn’t find one on Amazon. I actually had to… order one on Etsy.com… it took me about four weeks to get the freaking leprechaun.” He specified wanting a “full size one” because “I wanted a good target… to hit with my trash can… practice legitimately… because I want to, when I go up there, I want to hurt him.”
The story continued with JBL doing an impromptu ventriloquist act, voicing the leprechaun doll (dubbed “Dylan” by host Conrad Thompson) who complained about JBL’s past trash can attacks. The entire segment showcased JBL’s lingering playful animosity towards Hornswoggle and his unique, often outlandish sense of humor.
